Description:
A chance to photograph the incredible landscape of the West Highlands area in Scotland. We will take in various locations for sunrise and sunset potential (sunrise and sunset not guaranteed!). I've photographed in Scotland for over 25 years, and it is a place you simply can’t get bored of!
From incredible beaches, waterfalls, mountains and so much more, it really is a photographers paradise.
With a mix of composition and technical tips there is a good variety throughout the day. Being in a small group you have plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
Sunrise is around 8:00am and sunset is around 6:00pm so weather permitting we will aim to get both when we can. We will start at 10am on day 1, which gives people who travel the day before a slightly easier start.
A selection of likely locations is below, but this is completely subject to change dependent on the weather. I am in Scotland in April and then prior to the workshop so will scout out the best locations for the conditions.
Below is a list of potential locations we will be visiting. This may change according to the conditions.
Ardessie Falls
Black Water Falls (Garve)
Gruinard Bay
Boom Beach
Gairloch Waterfall
Fairy Lochs
Rua Reidh Lighthouse
Stac Buidhe Natural Arch
Cove Light Anti Aircraft Battery WW2

Firemore Beach - Sunrise (Loch Ewe)
Slaggan Ruinen - Village ruin and beach (10k walk round trip to the beach)

The weather in Scotland is very changeable! They say if you stand still long enough you can get all four seasons in one day! Bring waterproofs for both you and your camera. Sturdy footwear is strongly advised, the ground is often uneven.  The prolific Midges should be done for the year, I will have ‘Smidge’ repellent with me just in case!
